Ipswich, Australia One Power Full time

As an Electronics Engineer in the Air Force, you'll play an integral role supervising the maintenance of state-of-the-art aircraft, managing airborne power systems, avionics, sonar, radar, and communication systems.

There are two streams to this role, Aviation or Cyber Systems, so your day-to-day work will vary depending on which stream you are in.

In the Aviation stream, you'll mainly be responsible for the avionics (electronics and internal systems) on aircraft that allow them to fly. This includes a range of systems including power generation and distribution, radar and navigation, surveillance, electronic control, mission, communications, and electronic warfare.

In the Cyber Systems stream, you'll primarily work on IT & network equipment that helps the Air Force stay connected within the organisation, and to others. It's your duty to ensure every aircraft in the sky and all the personnel and equipment on the ground can communicate regardless of location.

On top of this, as an Air Force Officer you'll be trained to become an inspirational leader and mentor; adept at effectively communicating with and managing teams, with a comprehensive knowledge of Air Force attitudes, values, and military protocols and procedures.

You'll earn a good salary from day one and be paid to train and learn the skills required. On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $90,629 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation, and your salary increases as you progress.

Location

Upon completion of your training in Victoria and New South Wales, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia such as RAAF Base Amberley, RAAF Base Williamtown, or RAAF Base Edinburgh.

Life in the Air Force

When you join the Air Force, you'll benefit from our investment in your professional growth and development, enjoy great work/life balance, a supportive team environment, and extensive benefits – from free healthcare to excellent fitness facilities. Plus, there's the potential for overseas travel.

In addition, there are meaningful experiences that come with serving your country. From participating in Air Force exercises and operations to providing support to communities in need, this is your opportunity to take on a career with many rewarding dimensions.

Apply Now

For this role, you must be an Australian citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment, and have completed a four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree (accredited at the level of Professional Engineer by Engineers Australia) in one of the following specialisations: Avionics, Communications/Telecommunications, Computer Engineering/Computer Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Software, Robotics, Instrumentation, control and automation, or Biomedical. Note that degree requirements vary depending on which stream you apply for. If you are not an Australian Citizen, you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria; please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details.

You must also be able to obtain a security clearance and meet the minimum medical and fitness requirements. More information is available here.
