The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Technician in our Hot Strip Mill (HSM) team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

Working on our Coil box equipment at our Hot Strip Mill plant, you will ensure that equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for safety, quality, and reliability. You will apply your mechanical fitting skills and experience to complete both complex and routine maintenance tasks, with a focus on improving our equipment performance and reliability by understanding plant and equipment condition and then implementing corrective actions to restore as required.

What Will You Do?

In a role that impacts the safety of our people as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products, you will:

  • support ongoing and efficient production through the maintenance of onsite equipment
  • plan and organise for shutdowns
  • demonstrate your mechanical expertise on many and varied Capital projects
  • contribute to the team with out of hours support
  • seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies
More About You

As a career maintenance mechanic, you'll enjoy taking ownership for your work and contributing to the larger team. You will bring:

  • experience as a qualified Mechanical Fitter/Machinist
  • experience in mechanics and automation
  • proven exposure to maintenance management systems and basic computer skills

an enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop yourself in the role
