About the Position

We are seeking a Chief Engineer for our cement carrier Goliath, based in the Bass Strait. Reporting to the Master, the Chief Engineer oversees the Engineer Department, responsible for all machinery and equipment under their care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Safely and efficiently operating all machinery and electrical equipment, ensuring effective maintenance of the vessel;
  • Coordinating steelwork repairs and maintenance, excluding general cleaning and preparation prior to painting;
  • Issuing Vessel Work Orders;
  • Reporting deficiencies affecting vessel safety, efficiency, and pollution-free operation to the Master;
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory, Class, and Company requirements for planned maintenance and inspections;
  • Liaising with the Fleet Technical Manager or Senior Vessel Manager for technical soundness of the vessel.
About You

We require:

  • Educational background meeting AMSA Marine Order 72 – Engineer class 1 requirements;
  • A minimum of 12 months' sea time as a First Engineer;
  • An MSIC Card (or ability to obtain);
  • Working Safely at Heights certification (or ability to obtain);
  • Enter and Work in a Confined Workspace certification (or ability to obtain);
  • A current AMSA Medical certificate (or ability to obtain);
  • Residency in Australia.
