Senior Electrical Engineer - Water Projects – Brisbane, Queensland

Stantec's Water team in Australia is delivering major water infrastructure projects across the country. The team collaborates across business lines to ensure the best outcomes and maintains a pipeline of exciting projects. This role is based in the Brisbane office and supports water infrastructure projects across feasibility through to detailed design and construction packages.

• Perform broad, varied engineering design tasks on assigned projects under general supervision, including engineering drawings, reports, presentations, and regulatory/funding submissions.
• Develop designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats; prepare and revise documentation in electrical phases including layout drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, submittals, and responses to information requests.
• Evaluate electrical systems, products, components and applications by researching, analysing, selecting, and applying electrical engineering concepts and criteria.
• Assist project engineers with developing and managing project scope, including cost estimates, budgets, staffing and schedules.
• Assist the senior project electrical engineer in preparing conceptual, preliminary and final designs and attend client project requirement meetings.
• Engage in the permit process, including meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies as required.
• Prepare portions of project proposals, change orders, and client communications relevant to specific projects.
• Apply technical skills to ensure projects are thoroughly designed, reviewed, and delivered on time.
• Coordinate technical activities with other disciplines and serve as a liaison between senior engineer and the design team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and consistent application of technical design standards and processes within the section.
• Prepare electrical feasibility studies by analysing design data, conducting environmental impact considerations, and assembling data.
• Provide independent technical review services for projects as requested by Project Engineers and coordinators.

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartership or working towards it is highly regarded.
• At least 6 years' experience in consulting or engineering within the water industry.
• Proven electrical design experience in the water and wastewater sector.
• Strong technical experience in potable water supply, gravity and pumped sewerage systems, and recycled water networks.
• Experience in water and wastewater treatment plants for regional and urban water authorities (desirable but not essential).

Qualifications: tertiary qualification in engineering with emphasis on electrical; minimum 6 years in a similar role with water and wastewater experience.
