Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Opportunity at Ventia

We have an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our Defence Maintenance Contract team based at the Lavarack Barracks in Townsville QLD.

As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for conducting routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy military vehicles, including armoured fighting vehicles like Abrams tanks, ASLAV reconnaissance vehicles, and M113 APCs.

  • Competitive hourly rate inclusive of allowances
  • Work 38 hours per week Monday to Friday with a finish time of 12 pm on Fridays

About the Role
  • Conduct maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification
  • Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Reassemble, test, clean, and adjust repaired or replaced parts
  • Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
  • Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition, and electronic fuel injection
  • Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates
About You
  • Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent level qualification
  • Open to Light Vehicle Mechanics with demonstrated Heavy vehicle experience
  • Demonstrated experience in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining Light, Medium, and Heavy vehicles
  • Must possess a current Australian State or Territory class C Driver's License
  • You must be an Australian Citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance
