Join Ventia in a role which keeps the Australian Defence Force's wheels turning
Due to an internal transfer, we now have a great opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our fully geared Defence Maintenance Contract team based at the Lavarack Barracks in Townsville QLD.
As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, you will conduct routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of heavy military vehicles, including the new Rheinmetall transportation fleet (L121 MHC), armoured fighting vehicles like Abrams tanks, ASLAV reconnaissance vehicles, and M113 APCs.
Benefits- $48.77 an hour inclusive of allowances
- Work 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, finishing at 12 pm on Fridays

- Conduct maintenance tasks, including technical inspection and classification
- Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, and differentials
- Reassemble, test, clean, and adjust repaired or replaced parts
- Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
- Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition, and electronic fuel injection
- Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates
- Cert III Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or equivalent level
- Open to Light Vehicle Mechanics with demonstrated Heavy vehicle experience
- Demonstrated experience to inspect, repair, and maintain Light, Medium, and Heavy vehicles
- Must possess a current Australian State or Territory class C Driver's License
- You must be an Australian Citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance
