The Office of the National Rail Safety Regulatory (ONRSR) is dedicated to ensuring the safety of Australian railways. We are now seeking a Director, Safety Insights and Intelligence to lead our efforts in building data intelligence and elevating information sharing with key stakeholders, while identifying priorities for investment and governance to support regulatory and business needs.
This exciting new position is a pivotable leadership role, responsible for determining the most effective way to operationalise and deliver a new Safety Insights and Intelligence Operating Model, while aligning the Safety Insights and Intelligence team structure to deliver ONRSR's strategic objectives. A crucial part of this role requires a deep understanding of data information and analytics, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence stakeholders.
Reporting into the Chief Executive, this role will be instrumental in providing strategic direction and leadership for the Safety Insights and Intelligence team. The Director, Safety Insights and Intelligence will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining systems to deliver consistent, high-quality safety insights to improve regulatory decision-making and rail safety management, by building upon a trusted data foundation to support our national work program, identifying critical safety issues for further research.
About you – your impact and contribution
You will have a proven record of achievement at a senior level of more than 5 years' experience in formulating strategy to drive a unified, high performing team through establishing an integrated operating model that supports strategy execution and delivery of measurable safety improvements, while enabling supporting systems and processes that facilitate collaboration and information sharing to enhance communication and learning.
You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership, establishing a set vision for safety insights including data modelling and management, analytics and regulatory intelligence to increase data culture and capability. You will be capable of motivating, encouraging, and inspiring a strong and efficient team focused on delivering planned outcomes and developing individual team members' capabilities.
The ideal candidate will exhibit strong initiative, drive and responsiveness to emerging opportunities, showcasing your leadership capability to effectively influence and negotiate successful outcomes. You will adeptly resolve complex matters, gain stakeholder support and minimise organisational risk. Additionally, you will possess effective planning, coordination, and time management skills to ensure that deadlines are met consistently.
