Overview

Finance Manager role at NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. This position leads ongoing improvements to finance systems, processes, and capabilities within the Planning group, fostering knowledge sharing and elevating digital and analytical skills to support strategic decision-making.

The Role

The Finance Manager is responsible for leading the design and implementation of finance process improvements, ensuring alignment with best practices and compliance requirements. This role champions the adoption of AI and automation tools to streamline reporting, forecasting, and transactional processes and provides performance reporting and high-level critical analysis and specialist advice on financial results, divisional initiatives, projects and related issues. You will work closely with business units across the division to drive innovation and boost efficiency.

You will bring
  • Advanced excel skills and experience working with accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in finance transformation, business process improvement, or systems implementation within a large corporate or government environment.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of management accounting principles, financial operations, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in AI, automation, and digital tools (e.g., Power BI, machine learning, or large language models).
  • Tertiary degree in accounting, business, technology or commerce.
  • Qualified Certified Practising Accountant or Chartered Accounting, or working towards these qualifications.
