Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. The Research Officer is an integral member of the research team within the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe), responsible for planning, implementation, coordination, data management, and reporting of concurrent research projects related to a funded body of work. These studies will be varied and require the ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines across disciplines. Responsibilities include developing research protocols, ethics and governance submissions, project management, consumer engagement, patient recruitment, data collection, follow-up, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and report writing. The Research Officer will leverage their knowledge of clinical and health services research to foster productive collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

  • Has a health-related degree and/or experience in research, clinical trials, or relevant fields.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office, medical electronic databases (e.g., Medline, PubMed, Embase), REDCap, and research software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, EndNote, Nvivo).
