Beauty Editor

Overview

Based in our Melbourne office, this is no ordinary editor role. We're looking for a Beauty Editor who lives and breathes makeup, skincare and all things beauty. You'll be the leading voice of beauty for Howatson+Company's key client Myer, shaping storytelling across Instagram, TikTok and emerging digital platforms. Reporting to the Head of Content Strategy, you'll bring a blend of editorial skills, professional makeup artistry skills and social media expertise. You'll be comfortable creating a viral "GRWM" for TikTok as you are curating a trend report on the latest serum ingredients, all while presenting on-camera with confidence and credibility. This role is about creativity and expertise in equal measure; helping define the voice of beauty at Myer and building content that excites audiences and drives results.

A Day in the Life

• Craft & Lead Beauty Stories: Be the expert beauty voice for Myer, creating content that covers makeup, skincare, haircare and fragrance.
• Write, curate and produce engaging content translating beauty trends into must-have edits, seasonal campaigns and educational features.
• Leverage product knowledge, professional artistry skills and industry credibility to ensure publications feel authoritative, aspirational and achievable.
• Regularly appear on-camera to create tutorials, GRWMs, masterclasses and product breakdowns, applying your makeup skills in a polished, professional way.
• Present beauty stories authentically and engagingly across different platforms.
• Collaborate with production teams to deliver polished, high-performing content.
  • Social-First Content Creation: Own and drive beauty storytelling across TikTok and Instagram with a social-native mindset.
  • Ideate and deliver innovative formats: tutorials, hacks, trend reactions, live streams, BTS moments and more.
  • Stay ahead of the cultural curve and translate trends into successful branded content that audiences want to watch.
  • Analyze performance and quickly adapt formats to maximise reach and engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (production, design, strategy) to align beauty content with broader campaigns.
  • Bring disruptive, creative ideas into brainstorms and content planning.
  • Ensure beauty storytelling feels cohesive alongside fashion, home and lifestyle content.
  How will we know you're the one?
  • You are a true beauty expert, with a background in makeup artistry, beauty editing or beauty retail.
  • Strong makeup application skills and the ability to translate them to camera-ready tutorials and videos.
  • Genuine on-camera presence – confident, authentic, energetic and professional.
  • Social native; experience driving content that performs on TikTok and Instagram.
  • Stay across global and local beauty trends, from viral hacks to industry innovations.
  • Ability to write, ideate and produce beauty-led concepts with sharp, on-brand copy.
  • Understanding of styling with an eye for fashion and wider cultural relevance.
  • Natural collaborator who thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment.
