We're seeking a skilled and motivated Financial Controller to lead our finance function, strengthen financial performance, and provide strategic insight to support business growth. This is a hands-on leadership role where your expertise will directly influence the success of our projects and operations.

Description:

About The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll lead our finance team and oversee all aspects of financial operations — from management reporting and budgeting to payroll, compliance, and process improvement. This is a leadership role offering variety, influence, and the opportunity to make a real impact in a dynamic, growing business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the organisation's finance function, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate, timely reporting
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with project managers and the leadership team
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly BAS submissions
  • Manage annual audit, insurance renewals, and compliance with all financial regulations and standards
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to support decision-making and growth opportunities
  • Foster a high-performing, professional finance team through leadership, coaching, and development

Skills and Experiences:

What we're looking for:
  • CPA or CA qualification (essential)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior financial management role
  • Proven financial leadership, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency across Microsoft Office 365
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Nice to have:
  • Experience in the construction or electrical contracting industry
  • Knowledge of project-based financial management
