Overview

This is a full-time ongoing opportunity based in Annandale NSW at MacKillop Education Waranara School. The school is an Independent Special Assistance School for students in Years 9 to 12 who are disengaged or at risk of disengagement from mainstream education, with histories of trauma, mental health needs and/or other disabilities.

About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated Student Wellbeing Advisor to provide support to students in regulating themselves and empowering them to thrive. The advisor will support students to meet educational and wellbeing needs to achieve high school qualifications, liaising with families, healthcare professionals and staff, and working closely with the broader team to achieve positive outcomes for students. The role also involves ensuring the school is child safe, complies with regulatory and funding requirements, and manages risk within the school.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Formal qualifications in Counselling, Psychology, and/or Social Work, or equivalent significant demonstrated experience
  • Professional history of working with young people who have lived experience of complex trauma and/or mental health within a school
  • Knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and trauma-informed practices
  • Ability to demonstrate professional agility and empathy in a school context
  • Ongoing commitment to strong self-care, boundaries, insight and self-awareness

  • Valid and current Driver's Licence
  • Valid and current Working with Children Card
  • Valid and current NDIS Worker Check (for NDIS risk assessed roles)
  • Satisfactory criminal history check conducted by MacKillop Family Services
