Position title: Peer Worker (Health Education Officer) - The Forensic Hospital - PFT

Responsibilities
  • Support and guide consumers in their recovery journey using lived experience with mental health services.
  • Collaborate with consumers and staff to facilitate participation in individual treatment and recovery within a secure mental health setting.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting personal recovery and practical insights into recovery.
Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Peer Work, or willingness to obtain this qualification; or relevant health-related qualification and a combination of experience.
  • Personal experience as a consumer of mental health services and ability to utilise lived experience to support others.
Organisational context

The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility. A multidisciplinary team provides care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care to long stay and rehabilitation care. The Peer Workforce supports consumers through collaboration with staff to enable participation in treatment and recovery within a secure setting.

Orientation and location

A mandatory two-week, full-time orientation is provided (all days paid). Next intake dates: 13 October and 24 November 2025.
