If you are passionate about delivering healthcare with the greatest impact, then come and join us at the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network (JHFMHN). We are Just the Place to grow your career and be part of a valued team delivering care where it's needed most

Be part of a supportive environment, where you can apply your skills to address complex healthcare needs while broadening your treatment capabilities to maximise patient outcomes.

We are a challenging yet rewarding place to take your career even further. With industry-leading safety standards, you can focus on doing your best work alongside skilled colleagues while gaining job training to progress your career.

For this role, we are looking for a health care professional with:

  • Certificate IV in Peer Work, or willingness to obtain this qualification; or relevant health related qualification and combination of experience.
  • Personal experience as a consumer of mental health services and ability to utilise the lived experience to support others in their own mental health recovery journey.

The Role

JHFMHN is committed to building a professional workforce that supports consumers in their recovery journey. The Peer Workforce is comprised of workers who have the lived or living experience of mental ill health and recovery, as well as additional skills and work experiences.

The Peer Workforce is seen as vital in the support and guidance they positively offer to consumers and the mental health service, through the significant gains made in their own recovery. This is achieved by being a positive role model and offering new hope and insights in the practical meaning of personal recovery.

Peer Workers will respect the Consumers experiences, supporting their self-determination, identifying and working toward collaborative goals and needs and promotion within the community. A primary goal is to work collaboratively and positively with consumers and staff to facilitate effective participation in individual treatment and recovery within a secure mental health setting.

A mandatory and comprehensive two-week, full-time orientation is provided. All days are paid. The next intake dates are 13 October and 24 November 2025.
