Salary: $140K–$165K + Super (Negotiable based on experience)

About the Role: We're partnering with a leading financial services organisation to find a Senior Systems Engineer who will act as the technical lead in a high-performing team of three. This is a hands-on role with strategic oversight, focused on infrastructure, cloud, and security operations. You'll drive key initiatives including a migration from on-prem/hybrid Active Directory to Entra ID (Azure AD), while managing a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment and leading infrastructure upgrades with minimal business disruption.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of core infrastructure: Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP.
  • Manage hybrid Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune for endpoint compliance and lifecycle management.
  • Oversee Azure IaaS/PaaS resources with a focus on cost-efficiency and security.
  • Implement and manage Netskope for secure web gateway and CASB functions.
  • Monitor and respond to threats using Darktrace and other SIEM/SOAR tools.
  • Align infrastructure and security practices with ISO 27001 standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across IT and business teams.
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • 10+ years in IT infrastructure roles, ideally within financial or regulated industries.
  • Proven experience migrating environments from on-prem AD → Hybrid → Entra ID.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, PowerShell.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and Intune in hybrid setups.
  • Familiarity with Netskope, Darktrace, and modern security platforms.
  • Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access.
  • Experience working within ISO 27001 or similar frameworks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Microsoft certifications: AZ-104, MS-102, SC-300.
  • Experience with automation tools: Terraform, Ansible, Azure Automation.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Qualifications
  • AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP/RESIDENCY/NZ CITIZENSHIP required.
