Role Overview

As the business scales, we are seeking a Legal Practice Director to lead and support our legal team, driving commercial outcomes while upholding high standards of compliance, innovation, and efficiency. In this unique role, you'll oversee the delivery of specialist legal services in advertising, trade promotions, and regulatory compliance to a dynamic client base, while helping shape the future of legal work through a blend of commercial acumen, legal expertise, and technology-driven service.

• Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals across commercial and marketing compliance.
• Oversee workflow management and ensure service level agreement (SLA) delivery, including a 24-hour turnaround standard.
• Legal work includes specialised reviews of trade promotions, marketing and advertising, including reviewing terms and conditions, securing permits, and ensuring compliance and delivery of high-quality legal advice for a diverse and sophisticated client base.
• Drive commercial acumen across the legal team by improving processes, strengthening accountability, and enhancing collaboration with Product and Tech teams to develop smarter, faster legal delivery models.
• Engage directly with clients to scope opportunities and influence the expansion of services.
• Champion Plexus' culture and lead by example in decision-making, client relationships, while balancing speed with rigour.

• 8–15+ years PAE, from either private practice or in-house.
• Commercial, marketing and/or advertising law experience preferred.
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing a team of lawyers and legal operations.
• Forward thinking, adaptable and comfortable working autonomously with limited direction and thrive in ambiguity.
• Strong client service ethos balanced with operational discipline and commercial awareness.
• A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to the law.
• This is a role for a commercially minded legal leader who's energised by shaping the future of legal work—not just delivering advice, but transforming how it's delivered.
• You thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, love solving complex problems, and excel at building scalable, client-centric solutions while taking your team along the journey.

• Part time role (3-4 days per week).
• Location: Melbourne preferred. Open to interstate candidates willing to travel to Melbourne once a month, as the legal team is based there.
