About The Role

Join Origin Energy as a Shift Operations Manager at Eraring Power Station, where you'll lead the operational performance of one of Australia's largest thermal generation assets. This pivotal role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the site's production assets, while supporting the transition to a cleaner energy future. You'll lead a diverse team, manage critical plant operations, and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic and evolving energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all production activities, overseeing up to 80 team members and coordinating with contractors.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, auxiliary systems, and coal handling infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with Wholesale & Trading to optimise plant availability and align production with commercial goals.
  • Manage emergency response protocols and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, team development, and strategic planning.

What will you bring?

  • Solid leadership experience in thermal power generation or large industrial operations.
  • Qualifications in engineering, science, or management—or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Sound understanding of the National Electricity Market and energy industry operations.
  • Proven ability to manage large budgets and lead strategic initiatives.
