Overview

RAC WA is seeking an experienced Accountant for a 1 year term contract. The role reports to the Financial Controller Shared Services and involves driving transitions of work between team members and supporting accounting leaders in a variety of tasks. The division provides operational Accounting and other Financial Services to RAC business units to support operational performance.

Primarily operating from the West Perth office with an additional location in Joondalup, there is also the opportunity to work from home.

Responsibilities
  • Lead transitions of work tasks from one team to another and support individuals involved in the transitions.
  • Partner with team leaders to ensure tasks and workloads are assigned fairly and pragmatically.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and help staff implement these improvements.
  • Support month-end accounting processes for Shared Services and Group accounting transactions/journals for RAC Business Divisions as required.
  • Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations within agreed timelines, including correct recognition and treatment of assets and liabilities.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Group and/or Operational Accounting Managers to ensure the Financial Services team meets its objectives.
  • Adhere to relevant financial processes and procedures.
  • Opportunity to learn and assist across different business units within the Group.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience in a qualified accountant role in a large organisation or division.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce/Business majoring in accounting.
  • Professionally qualified as a CA or CPA or similar.
  • Experience in Management and Financial Accounting.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance for BAS, FBT & Income Tax Returns.
  • Strong reconciliation skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Power Query exposure advantageous).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and develop professional stakeholder relationships.
  • Motivation to achieve business outcomes and operate in a values/behaviour-based organisation.
