About the role

As a Tax Investigator, you'll be part of high-performing teams focused on detecting, disrupting, and holding accountable those who engage in persistent tax avoidance or evasion.

You will use your expertise combatting deliberate non-compliance and your work will directly contribute to safeguarding the integrity of Australia's taxation and superannuation systems.

  • Conduct audits and investigations across entities of varying size and complexity
  • Analyse large volumes of data to identify risk and shape bespoke compliance strategies
  • Apply tax knowledge and technical expertise to resolve complex matters
  • Build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders across government and industry

Skills and experience

  • Understands the legislative frameworks governing taxation and superannuation
  • Excels at interpreting financial records and uncovering material facts
  • Applies tax law with precision to resolve challenging compliance matters
  • Shares knowledge and builds team capability in a dynamic environment

Qualifications in accounting, law, financial services, investigations or commerce-related disciplines will be highly regarded.

These roles will be offered in Adelaide, Box Hill (VIC), Brisbane CBD, Canberra, Dandenong, Melbourne CBD, Moonee Ponds, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith, Perth, Sydney CBD, Townsville, Upper Mount Gravatt or Wollongong.

You must be an Australian citizen to work with the ATO.
