As part of IIS's legal and compliance function, you will work closely with the Head of Compliance to help ensure that our operations remain aligned with regulatory, licensing, and internal governance standards. You will play a key role in maintaining our compliance framework, supporting risk management processes, and advising on legal matters as they arise. In addition, you will be a key member of our Internal Dispute Resolution (IDR) team, handling complaints and ensuring a fair and compliant process is followed.

This role is ideal for someone legally trained who may not wish to practice in the traditional sense but is eager to apply their knowledge in a dynamic environment.

$100,000 – $120,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day compliance operations across the business
  • Monitor and respond to regulatory developments that impact IIS
  • Investigate and report on compliance issues, breaches, or potential risks
  • Help maintain internal policies and assist in developing new compliance strategies
  • Collaborate with different departments on due diligence, audits, and client requests
  • Promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical business conduct
About you
  • A legal qualification (LLB or JD) is preferred, but not essential
  • Experience in compliance, risk, legal, or governance roles
  • Familiarity with financial services regulation or a strong interest in learning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for drafting reports and policies
  • A proactive mindset and ability to interpret and apply complex legislation
  • Knowledge of the insurance sector — or a curiosity to grow in it
  • Prior experience with Lloyd's or other specialist underwriting structures is a bonus
  • Willingness to travel to our head office in Burradoo, NSW two to three times a week.
