Overview

We're expanding in Australia and looking for a part-time microbiologist based in Sydney. This would be perfect for a grad student interested in gaining biotech experience.

Background

BluumBio is a California-based biotech company. We develop products for bioremediation, using microbes to break down industrial chemicals in the environment. We work with a broad range of customers in the oil, mining, wastewater and aerospace industries.

Responsibilities
  • Aiding the US team in setting up the lab
  • Interfacing with clients to organize the sending and receipt of soil and water samples
  • Preparing product for treatability studies
  • Setting up soil and water experiments with guidance from senior scientific staff
  • Taking down soil and water experiments
  • Preparing soil and water samples for analytical analysis
  • Data analysis from experiments
  • Disposal of soil/water in hazardous waste
  • Potential duties may also include helping to set up field demos
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in a lab based setting
  • General training in environmental science and/or microbiology
  • Completion of lab safety training
  • Experience in analytical chemistry would be highly beneficial but not required
  • Experience in remediation would be highly beneficial but not required
Compensation

Pay is $35-50 AUD/hr based on experience.

Travel to conferences and industry membership covered where applicable.

Timeline

Start date is flexible but ideally in early September. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until August 21 with interviews in the last week of August.
