About The Role

The Construction Maintenance and Operations Section provides delivery of construction and maintenance activities related to Townsville's existing public infrastructure. This position provides field supervision for multiple works crews across Council's maintenance programs, encompassing management of service quality, technical compliance, worksite safety, delivery against schedules, budget compliance, and communication with relevant stakeholders during works delivery.

Based at our Bamford Lane Depot, this role provides technical advice to Crew Leaders, Specialist Staff and Labourers on practical completion of maintenance activities and works across a range of public infrastructure assets including open space, parks, sporting facilities and cemeteries. This role works closely with other Team Leaders, Crew Leaders and technical specialists to identify resource capability and capacity needs in line with operational requirements and future objectives.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have:

Mandatory
  • Certificate IV in Leadership and Management (formerly Certificate IV in Frontline Management), or equivalent qualifications or with supervisor experience.
  • Certificate IV in Arboriculture or Horticulture or equivalent qualifications or with horticulture and arboriculture supervisor experience.
  • Current Manual "C" class driver's licence.
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
  • Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with experience supervising field based or operational staff and providing technical advice and support in open space construction and/or maintenance delivery related fields.
  • High level of experience working with customers and ability to build, maintain and sustain positive working relationships with key customers and suppliers both internally and externally.

Desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, scoping and supervising of external contracted resources, in addition to internal works capacity to achieve efficient and cost-effective outcomes.
  • High level of experience in supervision of multiple and simultaneous maintenance activities across geographically dispersed work sites.
  • Ability to safely operate and supervise others in a range of light plant items, machinery and equipment associated with programmed maintenance and construction projects within the rural and urban environment.
  • Queensland Government Accreditation for Traffic Management Implementation (TMI).
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Operational Inspection of Park facilities.
  • Accredited chainsaw ticket (Level 2).
  • Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC).
  • Ability to obtain Authorised Persons card for Townsville City Council.
