Stagpole Street Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit (SSDARU)

SSDARU provides residential rehabilitation services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Services are delivered by Pinangba, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led arm of UnitingCare.

The Role

The Team Leader position is responsible for supporting therapeutic best practice in accordance with policies, procedures and best practice guidelines for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families from First Nations communities affected by alcohol and other drug use.

This position works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team at Pinangba's alcohol and other drug (AOD) services and will be responsible for providing leadership and mentoring to Case Workers to development and maintain a high level of therapeutic practice within the organisation.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leading/mentoring and/or coaching a multidisciplinary team to achieve team outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering holistic outcome focused interventions for families or individuals living with substance use and complex mental health issues.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and knowledge of culturally appropriate practice.
  • Experience in review and delivery of evidence based psychoeducational programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to and leading quality improvement practices.
  • Highly developed computer skills utilising a variety of software packages inclusive of client information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct drug and alcohol assessments and/or assessments in a related field with knowledge of patterns of addictive behaviour and their implications for intervention.

What You'll Need

You'll have a genuine passion for supporting people to overcome addiction with the following skills and attributes
  • Diploma in Leadership/Management in community services/social emotional wellbeing or demonstrated extensive work experience in a similar leadership position.
  • Previous case management experience ideally within a similar service.
  • Current Open QLD drivers' licence.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Sound computer skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social, health and cultural issues of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Commitment to principles of Workplace Health and Safety.
