Job Description for Technical Business Analyst in Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane.

Experience Required:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business or associated field (Desired)
  2. Minimum 7 years experience in a business/system analyst role (Banking domain-Mandatory; anyone with Risk, Compliance & Legal experience will also be highly encouraged)
  3. Project lifecycle experience (mandatory)
  4. Experience in finance projects and understanding of the related functional aspects (mandatory)
  5. Track record of working in a fast-paced collaborative cross-functional environment (desired)
  6. Proficiency in working with distributed teams (desired)

Skillset Required:

  1. Ability to analyse customer requirements and provide innovative solutions or alternatives to meet those requirements.
  2. Strong internal consultation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  3. Excellent presentation and communication skills
  4. Advanced facilitation and workshop skills
  5. Ability for both technical speak and business speak and able to translate one to another.
  6. Advanced problem solving & troubleshooting skills; business research and analytical skills.
  7. Strong SQL, Data Analysis and Data Profiling skills
  8. Knowledge of Business Process Modelling and associated tools.
  9. Familiarity with Data Modelling and Data Warehouse concepts
  10. Understanding of Agile development practices.
  11. Ability to cope with pressure, prioritise workloads and meet agreed timeframes
  12. Good knowledge of Insurance/ Finance domain (Desired)
  13. Knowledge of planning/ forecasting, data reporting visualisation platforms, e.g.: TM1/ Planning Analytics, Cognos, Tableau (Desired)
  14. Knowledge and experience of JIRA & Confluence (Desired)
  15. Knowledge of Suncorp business and technology environment (Desired)
  16. Knowledge of business and IT trends (Desired)

Objectives of the role:

The role of the Business Analyst is to work collaboratively with T&T teams and stakeholders to obtain, analyse, communicate, and validate requirements for Projects and other tasks as assigned by the Project or Iteration Manager of the Project.

The role sits within DET Corporate Functions and will work very closely with Project and Iteration Managers; Development and Testing teams; Product owners and stakeholders to ensure the group delivers consistently high-quality results aligned with Suncorp business objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Support process of Business context and Requirements gathering
  2. Support defining of MVPs; features/stories and benefits
  3. Facilitate elaborations sessions; attend and facilitate other workshops as necessary
  4. Undertake technical analysis; define and document business logic; mapping and governance and success criteria
  5. Document and deliver Project artefacts as required
  6. Assist in estimating for Delivery Phase
  7. Assist in development of flight plan and milestones.
  8. Attend and contribute to agile ceremonies Iteration Planning/Stand-up meetings/Retrospectives/Showcases
  9. Proactively identify RAIDS (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
  10. Support development and testing team in understanding of requirements
  11. Support test planning and execution
  12. Contribute to Knowledge Transfer as required during and after delivery of project
  13. Identify and call out improvement opportunities for project delivery
  14. Perform other duties as necessary during delivery of project and as assigned by Project/Iteration manager
  15. Work collaboratively maintaining ongoing dialogue and relationships with Stakeholders as part of continued solution development and support.
  16. Promote continuous improvement through involvement in review processes and demonstration of individual leadership skills.
