Overview

Join to apply for the Retail Officer role at Bundanon. Bundanon is an art museum embedded in a 1,000 hectare landscape in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The organisation operates Bundanon properties as a centre for creative arts and education, supports arts practice, enables public access to the arts and to the landscape, and promotes creativity and learning in a unique cultural and natural setting. This is a part-time role to deliver the retail strategy and support the development of Bundanon's retail profile.

Role details

  • Part-Time role – 22.05 hours per week (3 days)
  • Award: Australian Government Industry Award 2016
  • Classification: AGIA Level 6
  • Salary: Minimum base salary - $75,228 per annum plus superannuation
  • Standard days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
What you will do
  • Retail Operations & Development: Implement Bundanon's Retail Strategy to achieve objectives and revenue targets across three outlets and the online shop; manage pricing, product information, and images for the POS system; ensure smooth data transition during POS implementation; maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate stocktakes with Finance.
  • Process Improvement: Introduce efficient processes for sales and stock management; provide basic training for front-of-house staff on POS functions and retail processes; ensure retail spaces reflect Bundanon's brand and visitor experience standards; contribute to product development, sourcing, pricing and supplier liaison to align with exhibitions and brand standards.
  • Online Retail Development: Manage the online shop with accurate product listings and descriptions; work with Marketing to integrate online campaigns; monitor online sales and report trends; coordinate with Finance for order fulfilment, payments, and stock control; develop initiatives to grow Bundanon's online customer base.
  • Coordination & Project Management: Assist with event merchandise sales and front-of-house duties; liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders; maintain project documentation and timelines; implement POS, inventory and stock management systems including an online store.
  • Visitor Experience: Provide courteous customer service, ensure retail areas are welcoming and well-stocked, and respond to product and exhibition queries, referring to front-of-house staff as needed.
Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Experience in retail operations, customer service or front-of-house roles, with knowledge of POS or inventory systems
  • Experience in achieving KPIs, budgeting, sales and profitability to support retail growth
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data, stock and inventories
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency with digital systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, databases)
  • Experience using POS or inventory management systems
  • Understanding of visual merchandising and product development
  • Understanding of budgeting and profitability in retail

Desirable

  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and problem-solve in a dynamic environment
  • Previous experience in the cultural, museum, or not-for-profit sector
