We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Insurance Claims Specialist to join our national team. In this key role, you'll manage insurance matters, investigate incidents, and oversee the full claims process, from initial reporting through to final resolution. The Role

As the Insurance & Claims Specialist, you'll be the key contact for managing and resolving specific insurance claims and related processes across the Y in Australia.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on professionalism, fairness and efficiency. You'll investigate incident facts, liaise with stakeholders, insurance brokers, and service providers, and ensure claims are managed proactively and resolved in a timely manner. You'll also contribute to insurance reporting, data management, and continuous improvement of our national insurance processes.

In this role, you will:


• Manage and investigate a broad range of general insurance claims, including property, motor vehicle, travel, and other required lines.


• Liaise with brokers, insurers, legal counsel, and loss adjusters to achieve the best possible outcomes.


• Maintain accurate records, claims databases, and provide regular reports to the National Insurance Manager and other key stakeholders.


• Support the annual insurance renewal process and maintain the asset register adjustment database.


• Provide exceptional customer service to Y Members, ensuring all insurance queries and changes are handled promptly and professionally.


• Assist with policy reviews, contract support, and incident reporting processes as needed.

Who You Are

We're looking for an experienced professional who has a strong understanding of insurance, claims, and risk processes. You're detail-oriented, organised, and skilled at navigating complex stakeholder relationships with a solutions-focused approach.

You'll bring:


• Relevant qualifications or proven experience in the insurance or legal industries (minimum 2 years' experience).


• Strong claims management knowledge, including incident investigation and documentation.


• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive relationships.


• Proficiency with relevant software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.


• A commitment to fairness, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.

You may also have:


• Experience with professional lines insurance products.


• The ability to read and interpret insurance policy wordings.
