The Community Experience Manager is a newly created role to connect our not-for-profits (NFPs) and volunteer communities, deliver unforgettable experiences, and learn from feedback to drive maximum impact. This role plays a key part in our goal to unlock $100M in value for NFPs by June 2028.

Reporting to the Head of Community, Corporate Partnerships and Communications, you'll lead the full lifecycle of our Volunteer Event Committees - recruiting and onboarding new volunteers, supporting them to deliver flagship events, and keeping them engaged. You'll also manage the relationship with our NFPs, understanding their needs and ensuring our activities provide real value. You will drive continuous improvement in program delivery by managing our community-level data collection through participatory measurement - collecting stories - and support sharing of these findings internally and externally. Working in close collaboration with our Grants and Impact Lead, you will build systems and processes to visualise the health of the community.

This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role that blends community building, event delivery, operational execution and impact management. It will suit someone who likes variety, and wants to grow quickly by working in a small team where your contributions make a difference.

If you're a natural connector, enjoy problem solving and creating streamlined processes, and motivated by creating a tangible difference for early-stage not-for-profits - we'd love to hear from you.

About 10x10:

10x10 builds the networks that back innovative not-for-profits (NFPs) taking on Australia's toughest social challenges. We have two strategies for building high-impact networks;

  • Fuelling a thriving movement: We host flagship events that bring people together to be part of something bigger. A social movement where their time, connections, and capital can transform communities.
  • Building a funding ecosystem: We're building a venture philanthropy funding ecosystem, where individuals, corporates and funders unlock new and better philanthropy. Together, we accelerate social change, scaling the ideas of innovative NFPs.

Through fuelling a thriving movement and building a funding ecosystem, our model turns every $1 invested into $10 of value created for NFPs and the people they support - and this impact is only set to grow. Our aim is to unlock $100M in value for NFPs by June 2028.

Over the last 12 years we've supported 400+ organisations targeting all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, engaged 20k individuals in philanthropy and unlocked over $25M in funding for innovative not-for-profits.

Some of the NFPs in our community include Fighting Chance, OrangeSky Laundry, Consent Labs, Bandu and This Is A Conversation Starter (TIACS).

Why Join Us:

10x10 is on a significant growth trajectory with strong momentum, and the ambition for nationally significant change in the way people find and support non-profits, akin to the early days of the venture capital ecosystem in Australia. The 10x10 team and Board have deep experience in finance and investment management, venture capital, philanthropy, not-for-profits, corporate, tech start-ups, and big tech. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of these fields, and see the impact of your contributions each day.

Key Responsibilities:

- Community Experience

  • Support the Head of CCC to deliver the Movement pillar of our 3 year strategic plan, facilitating meaningful connections between NFPs and volunteers to increase shared value.
  • Create and implement efficient systems that connect our volunteer community (10xers) with the needs of NFPs in our portfolio. Support the development of new products and initiatives that improve community experience and generate maximum impact.
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of our Volunteer Event Committees and be their ongoing point of contact supporting them to have an enjoyable and meaningful volunteer experience.
  • Nurture the relationships with our NFPs as the first point of contact and ongoing liaison, ensuring that the needs of our NFP are met through the programs.
  • Prepare and maintain pitch decks advocating for our NFPs to share with partners, ensuring they have up to date information and accurately present the needs of the NFP.

- Event Management

  • Steer the execution of energising events that raise funds and awareness for not-for-profits, by collaborating with our Volunteer Event Committees and guiding them to ensure successful execution.
  • Oversee logistical elements such as securing in-kind event venues and building relationships with event suppliers, finding opportunities for in-kind partnerships.
  • Provide event support for both community and corporate events, including preparing pitch decks and event collateral, on the day support, managing post-event reporting and post-event communication with NFPs and volunteers.
  • Manage quantitative and qualitative data collection processes and drive continuous improvement, to track outcomes and better understand the impact of our events, community activities and programs.
  • Support the creation of tools (dashboards, reports, visualisations) to monitor the health of the community and share our impact stories externally.
  • Lead community-level impact measurement including follow-ups post-event with our volunteers, attendees and NFPs. Ensure high quality data is recorded at key intervals, making use of tools such as Airtable and Zapier.
  • Work closely with our Grants & Impact Lead to contribute to our organisational impact management & learning processes by reporting these findings internally with recommendations for improvements.

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent at building relationships, leading and influencing people to complete collective tasks. Bonus for experience leading volunteer networks.
  • Confidence in managing event logistics, scheduling, promotion and evaluation.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficient at building efficient systems and processes and able to iterate as needed, making use of cloud tools such as Airtable, Zapier, Notion, Slack and GSuite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - you're a connector, communicator and collaborator.
  • A self-starter attitude who can bring ideas to the table, and enjoys suggesting and implementing improvements. From simple process automations to validating new programs and initiatives for product-market fit.
  • Team player who prefers working in small teams because of the opportunity to grow with the role, values collaboration and can fill gaps where needed. No task is too big or too small for you.
  • Passion for social impact, innovation and early-stage start-ups, and grassroots community building.

The following qualities and experience would be advantageous but not necessary:

  • Experience working with Not-For-Profits, or in a start-up/scale-up environment.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data capture methods and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Impact Management & Measurement (IMM) - our Impact Lead can support your development in this area.
  • A willingness to travel domestically, in future this role may require travel to our events.

You don't need to have experience in every area, what we value most is a strong sense of ownership over your work, and the ability and desire to adapt, learn, and grow with your role.

Here's what's on offer:

  • Contributing to make the world a better place through the work you do.
  • Joining a small close-knit team that values the importance of connection, meaningful work, work-life balance, psychological well-being, and ongoing learning.
  • A blend of in-office in Sydney and remote work options, with flexible working hours to accommodate your lifestyle. Our team usually comes into the office at Greenhouse Climate Tech Hub 3-4 days a week. Enjoy an early finish at 3 pm every Friday.
  • Salary Packaging: Enjoy up to $15,900.00 of your base salary tax-free, along with up to $2,650.00 for meal and entertainment expenses.
  • During the Christmas and New Year period, we provide 3-5 extra days of paid leave, allowing you to rest and enjoy time with your loved ones.
  • Regular team volunteering days with NFPs in our community.
  • Access to a professional development budget.
  • Through the role, the opportunity to build a robust network across start-up, venture capital, technology, investment, philanthropy and non-profit environments.

Interview Process:

  • We have designed a robust process so we can get to know each other and ensure it's the right fit both ways.
  • To apply please email your resume and cover letter to Caroline Geoghegan, Head of Community, Corporate Partnerships and Communications at caroline@10x10philanthropy.com. In your cover letter please detail why you are interested in joining the 10x10 team and what unique value you can bring.
  • Phone Screen: A brief 15-minute phone interview with Caroline. This serves as a quick opportunity for us to understand your strengths and address any initial inquiries you may have.
  • Online initial interview: A formal interview with Caroline and Riannah Burns, Grants and Impact Lead.
  • In person second interview including task based assessment: You will be given a relevant task to showcase your skills and expertise. During the interview, you will have the opportunity to present your work to us. Michele Renshaw, 10x10's CEO will also join for this interview.
  • Final Meeting: An informal coffee discussion with Caroline if needed.
  • Offer: The final step in the process will be the job offer.
