Overview

Engineering Manager role at Centennial, located at Mandalong Mine in the Lake Macquarie region—within a short drive of Newcastle and the Central Coast. Lead the Engineering team at an established Underground Longwall operation, contributing to safety, performance, and sustainability of the site.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will bring technical expertise, strong leadership, and strategic thinking. You will be accountable for setting engineering standards, ensuring statutory compliance, and delivering safe, cost-effective, and innovative engineering solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing engineering team (mechanical, electrical, and support staff).
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory, safety, and environmental obligations.
  • Overseeing the implementation and performance of the site's maintenance and reliability strategy.
  • Managing engineering budgets, cost reviews and contributing to annual mine planning processes.
  • Driving continuous improvement, digitalisation, and innovation in engineering practices.
  • Embedding a positive safety culture across engineering operations.
  • Supporting the implementation of lifecycle asset management and the Equipment Care program.
  • Contributing to major projects and performance improvement initiatives across the site.

Suitable candidates will have
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • NSW Practising Certificate as Manager of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Underground Coal)
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Project Management
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior engineering or leadership position within underground coal mining
  • A strong understanding of HSEC and statutory compliance requirements
  • Proven leadership capabilities and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Sound commercial acumen and experience managing budgets and engineering systems
  • Familiarity with CMMS, reliability-centred maintenance, and digital systems is desirable
  • Risk Management and ICAM qualifications are advantageous
