About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Work, Health and Safety Coordinator on a permanent, full-time basis to join the Transperth Train Operations division. This role reports into the Safety Manager and is responsible for leading, advising and reporting on Work Health Safety (WHS) strategies, plans and initiatives for Transperth Train Operations. This involves:

• Assisting with the development of a divisional implementation strategy for the provision of a comprehensive and integrated WHS system for Transperth Train Operations.
• Implementing, monitoring, and reviewing workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, including developing strategies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal and internal policies and procedures.
• Supporting the Safety Manager in providing specialist advice to the relevant stakeholders.
• Develops and delivers training sessions to increase awareness of WHS requirements and obligations.
• Identify, assess and manage WHS hazards and issues within Transperth Train Operations.
• Oversees division activities and WHS Committee meetings, providing guidance, direction and advice.
• Supports workplace consultation, safe work practices, injured employee management, and contributes to WHS policy and procedure development.
• Provide guidance and supervision to the direct report, WHS Support Officer, through effective task allocation, oversight of daily activities, and facilitation of professional development opportunities.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

• Experience in the implementation of WHS programs and projects with experience in rail or complex operational environments being highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in in supporting injured employees and facilitating their return to duty for work and non-work-related injuries.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake safety investigations and provide written reports detailing recommended corrective actions.
• Strong conceptual, analytical and problem-solving ability with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse stakeholder group.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of WHS issues and trends with proven ability to interpret and apply legislation and standards when providing advice.
• The ability to lead and support team members to ensure effective performance management and foster professional development.
• Hold relevant safety qualification (rail safety preferred).
