Our construction and infrastructure team are thriving and are looking for a Senior Associate to join our Sydney office and support the development of major infrastructure and energy projects for domestic and international clients.

As a leading construction firm in Australia, we advise participants on the largest and most complex major projects in the country and regionally. Focusing on the infrastructure and energy sectors, our team regularly acts for head contractors and developers in relation to the preparation and negotiation of EPC, O&M/FM, TSI, BOP, D&C, PPP and infrastructure financing documents, joint venture arrangements, supply contracts, connection agreements and other ancillary construction and services agreements. Our team also provides strategic procurement advice in relation to the early development phases and structuring of projects.

As a core member of the Projects team, you will work closely with Partners and your colleagues (both in Australia and Asia) on high profile front-end energy and infrastructure projects primarily with major contractors and developers. Strong experience in advising and running PPP projects is ideal, although we will consider candidates with experience advising on front-end design and construct and EPC's.

You will be given a high level of responsibility and autonomy to lead matters or work streams, so you will need to be a technical expert who is confident advising clients with complex drafting and negotiation skills. Additionally, you will be a key contributor to the success of the team, working closely with Partners on business development activities to identify new client opportunities and contribute strategically to proposal and tender efforts. You will also be encouraged to develop your own valuable relationships and build on your market presence.

Candidate Summary

At Pinsent Masons we do things a bit differently and look for high-performers who are not afraid to try new things and question the status quo. We put our team above all else, because we consider our investment in you to be not just our best business activity but also our most rewarding one.

You will also have the following skills and attributes:

  • An Australian qualified lawyer four to eight years' post-qualification experience in private practice
  • Demonstrated experience in front-end construction and infrastructure law
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to assimilate information quickly and handle multiple priorities within tight timeframes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients and diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Commercial awareness and enthusiasm for business development
  • Bring energy and passion to the role

  • We like to be flexible. Our firm is professional and allows you to bring our whole self to work. Dress for your day and in your own style and participate in practices that support your wellbeing, mental wellness and work/life balance so that everyone can thrive at work and at home.
  • We're lots of fun and very inclusive. You'll also have plenty of opportunities to participate in, and even run, social activities, diversity and inclusion networks, and charitable initiatives.
