Position Information
Glendale Technology High School is a comprehensive high school, located in the City of Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle. Embracing its mission "Educate for Life," the school currently has an enrolment of 846 students, with 14% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and 5% from language backgrounds other than English. The school prides itself on its strong partnerships both within the educational community and industry. It's a proud member of the Glendale Education Alliance (GEA), strengthening connections with its partner schools and the Parents & Citizens' Association.It works closely with TAFE NSW and local businesses, offering vocational education and training pathways and preparing students for in‑demand skills. Its supportive Special Education Unit, comprising 8 classes, ED, MC, and IO classes, ensures inclusive education for all.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Highly developed, collaborative leadership that contributes to an effective senior executive and executive team to proactively evaluate and implement the SEP with a focus on explicit teaching, differentiation and HPGE initiatives.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in school operations and the capacity to lead, develop, implement, and manage whole school initiatives, organisational structures and management processes.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to genuinely engage and build partnerships with all community members to further enhance the positive school culture.
- High expectations, positive instructional leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build the capacity of middle leaders through effective, evidence-informed practice.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
