Horizon Power is seeking an experienced Principal Power Systems Engineer on a 2-year maximum term contract. This pivotal role will see you drive optimisation across critical systems, with responsibility for establishing end to end requirements across our energy systems — from generation and networks through to customer delivery.

Your Purpose In Action

• Lead the technical delivery of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing energy system performance
• Establish performance benchmarks for generation, storage, renewable, and network assets — both current and future, to ensure optimal functionality and reliability
• Conduct and manage foundational studies to inform business case development and support commercial analysis, including the creation of accurate, data driven estimates
• Design and implement automation programs that foster intelligent, integrated, and self-healing energy systems — achieving cost efficiency and improved reliability
• Coordinate external consultants and contractors to deliver high impact outcomes
• Provide technical expertise and support to operations and engineering teams, enabling measurable improvements in system reliability, efficiency, and safety
  
  

What You Bring To The Grid

• Extensive experience in system planning across generation, transmission, and distribution — including design, construction, operations, and maintenance.
• Expertise in energy system modelling, planning principles, and financial evaluation.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex energy systems, spanning generation, transmission, distribution, storage, and renewables.
• Knowledge of financial and business analysis methodologies.
• Advanced technical writing proficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering (minimum requirement).
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.
