Your New Role

In this integral role, you will lead the design and implementation of contemporary Inclusion Diversity & Equity (IDE) practices and initiatives which are aligned and contribute to the University's People Strategy and broader priorities. Working collaboratively across the University, you will shape an IDE focused culture and deploy a breadth of diversity and inclusion initiatives which deliver both transformational and operational impact. Operating as a trusted advisor, you will oversee IDE related reporting, evaluating, and monitoring of sector performance and outcomes for the University. To make recommendations on improving IDE outcomes, you will analyse data, identify issues, trends and ensures that key diversity outcomes are considered in all people planning, performance, and development activities.

What You'll Need to Succeed

You bring a strong track record in driving culture and capability change, and deep knowledge of contemporary IDE principles, frameworks and challenges. You're comfortable working with senior leaders, navigating complexity, and translating insights into focused action. You combine strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with critical thinking and the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and generate practical, evidence-based solutions. You're someone who thinks systemically, partners effectively, and leads with empathy and purpose.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the development, alignment, and delivery of University-wide workforce Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE) strategies, plans, programs and initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively across the University to foster an inclusive, equitable and diverse workplace culture.
  • Champion focused and systemic initiatives that embed IDE into the way the University works and support staff to thrive.
  • Lead and coordinate internal IDE performance monitoring and insight reporting, including the analysis of workforce data, identification of issues and trends, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead the University's compliance-based IDE reporting, including coordination of data and submissions for the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) and other relevant bodies.
  • Lead the University's Gender Equity Strategy and the coordination of a practical, measurable action plan to close the gender pay gap, as outlined in our Strategic Plan.
  • Maintain and steward the University's senior staff remuneration framework to ensure it continues to support fairness, transparency and internal equity. Make annual recommendations to the University Executive Team and Council for adjustments required to maintain compliance with key indicators.

What we're looking for:

  • Ability and willingness to learn, apply and embed contemporary inclusion, diversity and equity practices, grounded in current theory and real-world application.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, coach and collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders across all levels of an organisation, including experience navigating complex or decentralised environments.
  • Strong communication, consultation and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and build trust across diverse audiences.
  • Conceptual, analytical and critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to generate data-informed insights and translate them into targeted actions that drive measurable improvement.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, take initiative and drive strategic change, while managing multiple priorities and delivering against tight timeframes. Project management capabilities will be highly regarded.
  • A recognised tertiary qualification in inclusion, diversity and equity practice is desirable but not essential. Candidates without a qualification should demonstrate commitment to ongoing learning and contemporary practice in this area.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $160,613 comprising base salary within the range of $130,242 to $137,276 plus 17% superannuation.
