The Head of SCM is responsible for leading and optimizing the supply chain operations for Melbourne Product Manufacturing. This role involves overseeing the end-to-end supply chain process, including sourcing, procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, and warehousing.

Your responsibilities:

Sourcing

  • Lead sourcing activities including negotiations, costing, vendor selection etc.

  • Participate in the selection of suppliers by analysis, evaluation, and handle operational relations and interfaces with selected suppliers

Supplier development

  • Evaluate supplier cost structures and negotiate pricing agreements.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify and implement cost reduction initiatives.

  • Assess and mitigate risks related to supplier pricing and contracts.

  • Establish strong relationships with key suppliers, improve the overall supplier relationship management.

Procurement

  • Oversee the procurement process, ensuring the timely acquisition of raw materials and components

  • Monitor and manage procurement budgets to ensure cost efficiency

  • Expedite Purchase Orders to ensure on-time-delivery, this includes physical visits to suppliers to check on progress.

Inventory management & Logistics

  • Develop and manage inventory control processes to ensure optimal stock levels and reduce carrying costs.

  • Analyze inventory data to forecast demand and adjust inventory strategies as needed.

  • Ensure alignment between production schedules and inventory levels to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.

  • Follow up with logistics to ensure timely inward & outward deliveries

What you bring:

Functional Competency

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as Epicor and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)

  • Import buying, custom related transactions, trade laws etc.

  • Cost analysis of supply chain operations

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in SCM

  • Experience working with metal castings and/or suppliers of metal casting equipment

  • Experience working in engineering environments

Behavioural Competency

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Planning & organization skills

  • Entrepreneurial and commercial thinking

Key Metrics

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize costs

  • Develop and drive KPIs related to supply chain costs
