Overview

Head of School, Population Health – UNSW Faculty of Medicine & Health. Location: Health Translation Hub, UNSW Kensington, Sydney. This role is based in Australia as listed in the job posting. Remuneration: Attractive total remuneration package (TFR from $322,691 to $348,855), plus relocation and visa sponsorship offered if required. Employment type: Full-time (35 hours per week); Professor (Level E).


Why this role matters

This senior academic leadership role has overall responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the School of Population Health. The role supports the Faculty Dean through the development and implementation of innovative teaching and learning offerings and research programs within the School and across the Faculty, and the effective alignment and integration of the School's teaching and research with the Faculty and its partners. It also includes the effective management of teaching and research quality and impact within the School aligned to the Faculty and UNSW strategic objectives.


Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the School of Population Health
  • Support the Faculty Dean in developing and implementing innovative teaching, learning and research programs
  • Align and integrate the School's teaching and research with the Faculty and partners
  • Manage teaching and research quality and impact within the School in line with Faculty and UNSW strategic objectives
  • Lead a team with direct reports including academic staff and the School Manager

Key Skills / Qualifications
  • A PhD in a relevant discipline area and an outstanding record in research evidenced by funding, publications, esteem, and impactful translation
  • A track record of outstanding achievement and leadership in a managerial role in a university, health system or professional setting
  • A distinguished record of academic excellence in teaching and learning with notable contributions at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels
  • Strong potential for innovation in education and program development
  • Experience engaging with key stakeholders in the field, including national and international professional organisations and government
  • Demonstrated capacity for leading research, education delivery, and health/public health system change management
