Overview

Night Manager (Part-Time) at Mercure Penrith, New South Wales, Australia. Lead night operations to ensure a smooth, safe, and guest-focused experience during the overnight shift. Minimum requirement: 2 night shifts per week (Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday). Onsite at the hotel with potential for additional Reception shifts from 3:00pm – 11:30pm if interested.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage the overnight operations of the hotel.
  • Manage guest relations and handle complaints or issues during the night shift.
  • Conduct night audits, ensuring accuracy of financial transactions and reports.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all guests and staff by conducting regular property checks.
  • Support the front office to ensure exceptional service and efficiency in check-ins, check-outs, and guest queries.
  • Provide food and beverage service for hotel guests including bar service, food preparation, and espresso coffee preparation.
  • Assist with hotel reservations by answering emails, handling telephone and online bookings.
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet guests' needs.
  • Manage emergency situations, including medical issues, fire alarms, or security concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Train new starters in Night Audit procedures as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in hotel leadership.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to guest service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of hotel management systems is an advantage (e.g., Opera Cloud, Shiji POS; basic accounting skills for night audits).
  • Flexibility to work night shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Must be able to commit to 2 Night Shifts per week.
  • A professional and approachable manner, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Current First Aid and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certifications mandatory.
