We're looking for a hands-on commercial lawyer to join our client on a short-term contract of up to 6 months, with potential for an extension or to move into a permanent position.

You will work closely with the Senior Legal Manager for Australia and General Counsel and broader legal team to advise the business on their objectives, providing clear practical legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on commercial agreements, dispute resolution, employment law, workplace safety, privacy, competition and regulatory issues
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts with a solutions-focused, business-minded approach
• Identify, monitor and mitigate legal and compliance risks; track changes in laws and regulations
• Design and deliver training on antitrust, anti-corruption, contract management and other legal topics
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners

Location & team Based in our Melbourne Docklands office on a 3-days onsite / 2-days remote schedule. You'll join a close-knit legal group that pulls together when workloads peak and values straightforward advice and strong interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• 5+years post-qualification experience mid or top tier law firms.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communicator able to build rapport with commercial teams, developers and external advisors
