Overview

We're looking for a Backend Python Developer to join on a 6-month contract and help deliver key projects across our cloud platform. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys building robust APIs, working with modern cloud environments, and hitting the ground running.

Responsibilities
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services with Python (FastAPI framework exposure ideal)
  • Building and scaling APIs for internal and external applications
  • Deploying and supporting solutions in GCP (or other public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure)
  • Contributing to architecture discussions around performance, security, and scalability
  • Collaborating closely with frontend engineers, DevOps, and product teams
  • Writing clean, testable, and well-documented code
What we're looking for
  • Exposure to FastAPI (or similar frameworks like Flask/Django, with interest to learn FastAPI)
  • Hands-on knowledge of public cloud platforms (GCP ideal, AWS or Azure also highly regarded)
  • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and asynchronous programming
  • Ability to hit the ground running and work effectively in a hybrid Sydney team
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, Firestore, DynamoDB)
  • Knowledge of Terraform or IaC for cloud deployments
  • 6-month contract with potential to extend
  • Hybrid Sydney role – mix of office collaboration and remote flexibility
  • Exciting, impactful projects with modern tech stack
