Overview

Python Developer - Quantitative Finance | Sydney CBD | $150k-$180k + super + bonus + benefits. ScaleUp is partnering with a global trading firm to build next-level trading infrastructure. You'll join the trading systems team and be hands-on with tools that drive real-time decision-making. Work closely with traders and quantitative researchers to design and maintain analytical platforms, data pipelines, and performance-critical applications that process massive volumes of market data. This role emphasizes high throughput and low latency in real-time markets.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on development of high-performance trading apps used directly by expert traders in low-latency, high-frequency environments.
  • Collaborate with traders, quants, and developers to design and maintain analytical platforms, data pipelines, and performance-critical applications.
  • Identify and tackle performance bottlenecks, refine existing tools, and build new systems from scratch.
  • Optimize data flows and engineer solutions for complex trading strategies to impact how the firm competes in the market.
Qualifications
  • Mid-Senior Python Engineer with about 3-8 years of experience; background in startup/scaleup environments, banking, gaming, or other finance domains is ideal.
  • Proficiency with Python, Linux, Pandas, NumPy; experience with fast data pipelines and performance tuning.
  • Software Engineering/Computer Science degree or related fields (Physics, Maths, Statistics, Economics, etc.).
  • Experience in trading systems or financial data is a bonus.
  • Based in Sydney CBD; full-time role with office presence and flexible start/finish times.
