About The RoleThe Senior Project Officer Marine Pollution manages the delivery of projects and development of strategic policies and plans that contribute to ensuring Victoria is adequately prepared to respond to maritime emergencies, including for marine oil pollution. The position provides support for the delivery of frameworks, doctrine and protocols to respond to and manage the consequences of maritime emergencies in Victorian State Waters. This position is dynamic and demanding and requires the ability to effectively work across the disciplines of emergency management, incident response, project management and strategic policy development and implementation. The position maintains stakeholder relationships at local and national level, with the maritime industry and ports, whole of government emergency management partners and across the department's portfolio for planning related to maritime emergencies.

Position AccountabilitiesThe Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) plays a vital role in shaping a safe, sustainable and resilient transport system for Victoria. We are seeking a Senior Project Officer, Marine Pollution to join our team and support the delivery of effective maritime emergency and incident management. In this role, you will contribute to the State's marine pollution preparedness and response, ensuring arrangements are coordinated across government, industry and the community. You will apply your expertise to operational and incident management, working with multiple agencies to deliver effective outcomes during emergency situations. Success in this role requires strong skills in stakeholder management, critical thinking and communication. You will be able to identify shared interests, build constructive relationships and respond to the needs of a diverse range of stakeholders. With a focus on problem solving, you will anticipate risks, resolve complex issues and embed practical solutions into work processes. You will also be responsible for project delivery, coordinating tasks and monitoring progress to achieve agreed outcomes. A sound understanding of emergency management and the ability to operate effectively within incident arrangements is essential, as is the capacity to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a clear focus on objectives. Qualifications And Experience- Experience in effectively responding to and managing emergency incidents, including marine pollution events (desirable).
- Tertiary qualification/s in a relevant discipline including emergency management or a related field (desirable).
- Driver's Licence (mandatory).
