Our Group Legal division provides legal advice and support to the Bank's business units, senior leaders, and executives on a broad variety of legal issues. We are looking for an accomplished Senior Legal Counsel to join the team full time or part time 4 days per week.

Reporting into the Head of Group Legal, you'll partner closely with the business as a trusted legal advisor to support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and regulated environment. You'll also have the opportunity to assist with overall legal needs for major projects and transactions, such as regulatory changes and responses to identified risk exposures.

This role can be based in Adelaide, Bendigo, Melbourne or Sydney. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, and a hybrid model with a minimum requirement of 60% of your time per week in the office.

• Partner with the business as a trusted legal advisor to support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced and regulated environment.
• Assist with overall legal needs for major projects and transactions, including regulatory changes and responses to identified risk exposures.
• Support guidance on prudential standards, including CPS234 and CPS230, and related risk management strategies.
• Work collaboratively with the Group Legal team and senior stakeholders across the Bank.

• A legal qualification and admission to practice in Australia
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the Banking and Financial Services sector (private practice or in-house)
• Highly developed relationship skills with the ability to build trust with senior executives and business partners
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to interpret and explain complex legislation and to plan and implement policy and risk management strategies considering legislative and regulatory changes
