Job Summary

This position is an opportunity for a self-motivated fire protection professional who is passionate about working with a team committed to developing innovative designs for high-performance buildings. The Associate, Fire Protection Engineer will play a fundamental role in the production of great design work. Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, focusing on fire protection systems for healthcare, sports, aviation, labs and commercial, industrial and precinct level infrastructure
  • Participate in the design development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems or products for building and infrastructure fire systems
  • Lead a design team through the project life cycle, supporting the team in client meetings, collaborating with other disciplines and consultants, coordinating site service and electrical requirements, and performing field reviews
  • Understand Regulatory and Building Code Requirements and adhere to responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of regulatory codes, standards and guidelines related to Fire Protection Services Design (e.g., BCA, Australian Standards)
  • Take ownership of projects from start to finish, focusing on sustainable solutions and outcomes
  • Promote active, continuous learning and improvement within the team; mentor and coach team members
  • Support Team Lead to plan projects, optimize resources, manage timelines and budgets, and allocate resources
  • Provide guidance for building the right career path, whether becoming a technical expert or moving into leadership
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in fire protection engineering within the building industry
  • Australian Qualifications Framework – minimum Bachelor Engineering Degree
  • Relevant NSW Design Practitioner Registrations for Fire Systems
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, and building services drawings with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of construction phase monitoring of completed designs
  • Growth mindset; ability to develop optimized solutions for each project
  • Excellent advisory and reporting skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborative nature; willingness to share knowledge and drive excellence across projects
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Strong report writing, communication, and consulting skills
  • Advanced interpersonal, client, and staff communication and coaching abilities
