The Aboriginal Programs Manager will provide leadership in managing, coordinating, and developing culturally relevant programs that support Aboriginal families. This role involves overseeing the delivery of both existing and new programs, ensuring that they are effective, culturally appropriate and aligned with Gunawirra's strategic goals and values. The Aboriginal Programs Manager will work closely with Allied health professionals and community stakeholders, being responsible for shaping Gunawirra's program delivery and ensuring its long-term impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership and Development:

  • Lead and manage the development, delivery, and evaluation of Aboriginal-focused intervention programs
  • Oversee the coordination of both individual and group programs aimed at improving the health and well-being of Aboriginal families
  • Ensure that all programs are culturally safe, innovative and aligned with Gunawirra's mission and values
  • Regularly assess program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and evaluation
  • Supervise and mentor a team of social workers and Allied health professionals involved in program delivery
  • Provide professional guidance, support and training to staff to ensure they are equipped to provide culturally appropriate services
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the team, ensuring staff feel valued and supported in their work

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and service providers
  • Represent Gunawirra at community events, meetings and cultural gatherings
  • Collaborate with other organisations to ensure integrated service delivery and successful referral pathways

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Valid membership with the relevant professional association

Experience:

  • Experience in managing and delivering intervention programs for Aboriginal communities and families
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor staff in a culturally safe and supportive environment
  • Knowledge on Trauma-informed care
