Chief Financial Officer | 12-Month Contract | $220k–$250k | High Chance of Going Permanent

We're representing a mission-led, high-profile deep-tech innovation businessthat plays a critical role in supporting groundbreaking ventures in science, technology, and engineering. With scale, a strong reputation, and ambitious growth plans, this is a unique opportunity to join as their next Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

The Opportunity

  • Lead the finance, strategy, risk, operations, and governance functions of a nationally significant organisation at the heart of Australia's deep-tech innovation ecosystem.
  • Work closely with an experienced Board and Executive Team during an exciting phase of growth and transformation.
  • Shape the financial strategy, oversee budgets, forecasts, compliance, and risk management across a complex but purpose-driven business.
  • Be a trusted partner in commercialising innovation and scaling the organisation's national impact.
  • Take full responsibility for Facility Management and IT
  • Ownership of Company Secretarial responsibilities such as Board, investments, EIP Scheme and key contract reviews
  • 12-month fixed-term contract with a strong likelihood of permanency.
What You'll Bring
  • CA/CPA Qualified, business degree, 10+ years of experience
  • A hands-on style—able to manage details while stepping back to drive strategy. You will only have 1 finance employee and an outsourced finance provider so expectation is you will be deeply involved in day-to-day finance requirements
  • Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience, ideally within innovation, technology, research, or complex mission-led organisations.
  • Strength in financial strategy, reporting, governance, risk, and operational oversight.
  • Experience engaging with Boards and external stakeholders at a high level.
  • Commercial acumen balanced with purpose-driven leadership.
