Role Summary

A Technology Legacy Analyst combines deep technical expertise with analytical capabilities to support the stability, optimization, migration, and strategic decommissioning of legacy applications. This role enables integration with modern platforms and contributes to shaping a world where people and communities thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Legacy Application Expertise
  • Analyze and document legacy applications (e.g., mainframes, COBOL, older databases).
  • Maintain application performance, reliability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Technical Analysis & Architecture Awareness
  • Demonstrate curiosity and a proactive approach to understanding application functionality and technical constraints.
  • Interpret requirements and translate them into actionable technical outcomes.
  • Understand and map technology architecture, including data flows, dependencies, and integration points.
  • Lead or support the technical decommissioning of legacy applications, including identifying dependencies and operational impacts.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and data teams to plan and execute safe shutdowns.
  • Ensure archival of critical data and governance compliance.
  • Document decommissioning steps, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Migration to Modern Platforms
  • Support the migration of legacy applications to modern platforms and technologies.
  • Participate in planning and execution of migration activities, including data mapping, testing, and cutover strategies.
  • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to align with target state platforms (e.g., cloud-native, SaaS).
  • Validate migrated applications for performance, security, and functionality.
  • Contribute to post-migration support and continuous improvement.
• Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure applications meet regulatory obligations and internal governance standards.
  • Maintain audit trails and support risk mitigation efforts.
  • Work cross-functionally with product owners, developers, testers, architects, and operations teams.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly across diverse teams.
  • Coach and mentor junior analysts or team members.
• Mainframe Technical Expertise
  • COBOL/FORTRAN/PL1/Assembler – experience in at least 2
  • JCL (Job Control Language)
  • CICS
  • REXX

Skills, Qualifications & Capabilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of legacy technologies and application architecture.
• Experience in decommissioning, migration, data archiving, and risk management.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery, DevOps practices, and cloud environments (e.g., AWS).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills.
• Passion for learning and exploring how technology can solve complex challenges.
• Proficiency or growth in areas such as software, infrastructure, cloud, and data engineering; security and site reliability engineering; and QA/support engineering.

Technology Capabilities
