Join Canterbury-Bankstown Council as a Graduate Environmental Compliance & Protection Officer to support enforcement of environmental and public health regulations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high standard customer service, solving problems through consultation and decision making aligned with Council Values.
  • Responding to tasks within appropriate time frames and managing workloads to ensure completion.
  • Developing working knowledge of legislation including Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act, Contaminated Land Management Act, Boarding House Act, Swimming Pool Act, and Public Health Act.
  • Assisting with evidence gathering, accurate note taking, report writing, and presenting information.
  • Working as part of a team and assisting staff where required.
  • Reporting to the Team Leader of Environmental Compliance & Protection within the Planning Department.
Qualifications

The company is looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or equivalent as accredited by Environmental Health Australia or nearing completion.
  • A current C Class driver's license.

  • Starting salary of $71,819 (Grade D, Step 1) plus 12% superannuation, negotiable based on skills and experience.
