About the role

Mackay Private Hospital is seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to join our dynamic and growing allied health team on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality speech therapy services to both inpatients and outpatients, helping them to improve their communication, swallowing, and overall quality of life. The caseload is primarily paediatric outpatients, with some inpatient hospital work as required. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a friendly private hospital setting, serving the Mackay community.

What you'll be doing

Conducting comprehensive speech and language assessments of patients to identify their needs and develop personalised treatment plans

Providing one-on-one and group therapy sessions to help patients improve their communication, swallowing, and other speech-related functions

Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care

Maintaining detailed patient records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures

Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and coordinate care

Liaising with patients' families and caregivers to provide education and support

What we're looking for

A recognised Speech Pathology degree or equivalent qualification

Prior experience working as a Speech Pathologist is preferred but not essential

Strong clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of speech, language, and swallowing disorders

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Commitment to continuous professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices in speech pathology
