Academic Advisor

Provide guidance and academic support to company sponsored students in Australia while they are actively enrolled in educational/ developmental programs. Evaluates the academic performance of students under the training programs, program selection and program criteria. Provides college counseling, personal development advice, ensures compliance with program ground rules. Provide logistical support and advise new arrival students in Australia. These activities include:

Job Description

  • Discuss the grades of the students and their academic performance
  • Conduct formal evaluations of students' progress semiannually, and provide written reports
  • Review and verify tuition invoices and report any issues to the financial advisor.
  • Discuss participant's classes for the current and next term and ensure full adherence to degree plans
  • Discuss the departure process with those who are graduating soon
  • Discuss health related issues that may affect the students' academic status
  • Discuss any participant's problems with the university staff, advisors or professors and seek solutions for them to overcome their academic challenges
  • Answer any enquiries regarding the policy and guidelines
  • Coordinate pre-departure package on an annual basis for the new students arriving in o Australia
  • Coordinate the arrival of new students in Australia and conduct orientations
  • Provide advice and solution with regards to longer term accommodation for students arriving at Australia
  • Conduct campus visits at (at least once every term/semester) to the assigned university to meet students and the staff in Australia.
  • Call/email students to discuss their progress during the semester.
  • Provide emergency support to students in case of any emergency.
  • Work on Training & Development related initiatives with Australian universities to support sponsored students in the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Arts or Science
  • Minimum 5 years in student advisory/counselling roles
  • Colleague advisory/counselling certification or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience working with international student is preferred
