We're seeking a Risk Specialistto join our Technology Resilience team with the Cross-Industry Risk Division (CRD). This role is pivotal in assessing and advising on the management of technology resilience across APRA-regulated entities.

You will gain a unique industry-wide perspective and provide advice concerning current and emerging technology resilience issues (e.g. cyber, fintech and shared computing services) and commensurate sound risk management practices, helping to shape industry practices through the development of standards and guidance.

The team

CRD helps APRA protect the Australian community by providing cross-industry risk data and insights, specialist advice and forward-looking analysis to strengthen supervisory judgement, policy development and strategic decision-making. You'll collaborate closely with APRA's supervision and policy teams, senior leaders across APRA, as engage with external stakeholders including the RBA, ASIC, Treasury, and international regulators.

Key responsibilities

  • Understanding the key technology resilience issues within regulated entities (cross industry, wide variety of entity size and complexity).
  • Successfully influencing regulated entity decision makers, as part of APRA's prudential activities, to implement improvements to technology resilience management practices.
  • Maintaining technology resilience prudential standards and guidance for Australian APRA regulated entities.
  • Keeping pace with rapidly developing technologies / products / services, with an understanding of how this changes the risk profile.
  • Contributing to a high level of awareness across the Technology Resilience team in relation to technology resilience analysis (including knowledge of risk profiles within regulated entities and within the Australian financial system) given the broad range of issues to consider.
  • Providing quality services from within the Technology Resilience team given the volume, variety and complexity of work.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with other APRA supervision areas given diverse interests of the various areas.
  • Engaging with Government and industry representatives with respect to a variety of industry change initiatives.
  • Providing internal APRA staff (typically with non-technical backgrounds) relevant education.


About you

  • Expertise in a relevant technology resilience domain such as IT governance, risk management, information security (including cyber), service management, data management, and/or business continuity, for example.
  • Proven experience engaging with technical experts and regulated entities.
  • Strong organisational, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to technology resilience management.

To work with us, you need to be an Australian citizen with eligibility to gain a Baseline Security clearance.
