We have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our interdisciplinary design practice. This leadership role would suit someone with 10+ years' experience in engineering and provides the opportunity to work on high-profile operable architecture projects.

Strong client and stakeholder management is a key part of this role as well as driving all project-related stages—from concept development, detailed design, procurement, assembly, installation, and commissioning. You will also have a strong commercial acumen and a keen eye for detail and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of design projects
• Manage the development and approval of design concepts, specifications, and budgets.
• Manage the development of concepts and detailed design documentation.
• Coordinating the design, manufacturing, and installation of all project-related products.
• Develop and manage procurement strategies to improve company operations (payment term negotiations, purchasing strategies).
• Manage engineers, project schedules, budgets, cash flow, contract administration, design quality assurance, internal meetings, and risk management.
• Ensure staff resources are managed effectively during project execution, appropriately prioritising staff health and safety.
• Ensure the company project resources are maintained to ensure safe, reliable, and clean environments for work.
• Manage the financial reporting obligations for all projects.
• Develop and manage client/supplier/manufacturer relationships to ensure positive and productive commercial outcomes.
• Manage project site-based maintenance of projects, including reactive maintenance and contracted preventative maintenance.
• Regular participation in industry and business development events.

What you need for this role

• Applicants from Mechanical / Mechatronic Engineering backgrounds.
• A Degree or higher in related disciplines
• Minimum – 10 Years of industry experience and a demonstrated ability to take large-scale design projects from concept to completion.
• A team-oriented and outcome-focused approach with the ability to work collaboratively on complex projects.
• Exceptional communication skills (written/verbal) with an ability to present to senior stakeholders.
• An ability to work autonomously on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional CAD modelling skills (Solidworks / Onshape)
• Exceptional understanding of manufacturing and material opportunities
• At the time of application, it is essential to have legal rights to work in Australia (an Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency).
